As a mother of three (aged 18, 15 and 10) I thought I had navigated the roller coaster that is parenting fairly well over the years without the need for outside help but then Covid hit and my husband went overseas for 6 months. I was so pleased to discover not only Allen’s podcasts, FB lives but also this book. Allen has such a wealth of experience and is never patronising in the advice that he offers (my personal pet hate). This book has given me the confidence to set boundaries again and follow up with the consequences so my 15 year old now respects me far more and no longer tries to rule the house with his older brother at Uni and his dad away. The other sections are equally illuminating and give you some comfort that you are not the only one going through these trials. It feels like I have someone on my side!

I’ve long been a fan of Allen’s articles, podcasts and online parenting courses. I cannot tell you how much I’ve learned over the last many years from following Allen and Help Me to Parent on social media, email distributions, and taking his courses. This book does not disappoint. Allen has wonderful, practical, advice for so many parenting challenges. His tips are easily implemented and can be slowly introduced to your day to day routine. It all feels doable, nothing drastic but even the smallest changes make such a significant impact on day to day life. His work has had such an impact on my kids’ lives, I cannot recommend this book enough, along with Help Me to Parent and Allen’s parenting coaching. It’s so lovely to have his advice on paper where you can reference it anytime you need it! Buy this book!!

I’ve been listening to Allen’s parenting podcasts for a long time now and always found them very helpful. As soon as I heard he was writing this book I wanted a copy and I’m pleased to say it does not disappoint.
Brilliant practical advice for parents at every stage. Allen’s advice focuses on us as patents and how we react to the challenges that come with parenting. The advice is unbiased, simple and achievable by focusing on one area at a time.
I highly recommend this book to any parents.

I bought this book because though i don’t have kids of my own i do look after friends kids and i follow Allen and watch his live Q & A shows on FB and his podcasts and the advice he gives is fantastic. Just started reading the book and so far i love it Allen gives advice on topics from activities to anxiety and behaviour issues answering real peoples questions with honesty and also a little humor. I would highly reccomend Allen to anyone who has issues with their kids and are struggling for solutions his advice is second to none and he and this book will really help you and if i could give more than 5 stars i would because he is amazing.
